  • Overview

    The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Software Business Analyst (BA) to support our growing technology business in Virginia Beach, VA. The GBS Group is a commercial and government engineering services contractor with a variety of contract types, but this position will focus on our commercial business. Our Headquarters is located within 12 miles of the Virginia Beach resort area and downtown Norfolk’s Waterside District and includes a 24x7 Operational Support Center monitoring all client installations in North America as well as a world class lab with configurations of all client hardware and software systems.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to


    • Evaluate user requests for business process automation to determine feasibility and technical requirements.

    • Facilitate meetings and workshops that involve eliciting process requirements and liaising with users.

    • Work with business and IT Team members to map existing processes and design improvements.

    • Assess and analyze existing processes and data to identify improvement opportunities and present findings to stakeholders for discussion.

    • Identify and establish process metrics to help monitor measure and provide feedback on process performance.

    • Document requirements including integration between multiple systems, define scope and objectives, and assist in the creation of system specifications that drive application development and implementation.

    • Work with stakeholders throughout the entire life-cycle of projects to define, design, and implement software solutions.

    • Conduct Cost benefit analysis and build business case to seek financial approval for solution implementation.

    • Serve as a change agent to foster a continuous improvement culture and help simplify, standardize and automate business processes.

    • Perform other job-related functions as assigned

    Qualifications

    Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications: 



    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance or related field of study or any equivalent combination of experience and skills.

    • Must have 3-5 years of training and implementation experience in process improvement projects, tools and techniques.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

    • Ability to travel 20-30%.


    Desired Characteristics:



    • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is strongly preferred.

    • Strong facilitation skills with a broad business knowledge and experience in development, operations or consulting

    • Experience with business process design and change management

    • Knowledge of traditional process improvement methodologies including: root cause analysis, six sigma, lean and others

    • Proven project management skills with a PMP certification

    • Proven ability to build and leverage relationships with employees, vendors, and customers

    • Proven ability to prioritize, coordinate, and contribute to multiple simultaneous work streams
