Overview

This position is contingent upon contract award, and customer approval of resume. The Project Manager in Seattle, WA will represent The GBS Group on a complex engineering project and possess full authority to render project resources and make technical and commercial decisions. This project is expected to be a large, multi-year effort and requires oversight and attendance of meetings in person in the Seattle, WA area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Track schedule, budget, requirements and compliance of a complex software and hardware implementation within the passenger rail industry.
  • Support technical team resources within engineering, quality assurance and subcontractors throughout the requirements generation, design, implementation and installation phases.
  • Oversee status updates from multiple subcontractor/vendor Project Managers on schedule, budget compliance and status reports.
  • Work with GBS’s Contracts department personnel to ensure contract compliance and lead the creation of change orders when project scope increases beyond original expectations.
  • Support procurement and engineering team members with the creation of Bill of Materials, tracking material delivery status and inventory.
  • Develop daily status reports on project progress for distribution to internal stakeholders and generate monthly progress reports for review with senior management.
  • In conjunction with a Project Scheduler; establish, track and update critical path scheduling and earned value management.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree in any technical or managerial discipline.
  • 15 years professional experience in project management
  • Must have experience using Primavera Project Management P6 Release 8.2 or higher
  • Must have familiarity with Sound Transit
  • Travel occasionally as needed

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with complex software system integration projects
  • Master’s in Business Administration degree
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, may have occassionally work near hazardous equipment and machinery, walk on uneven ground, and exposure to noise
  • Occasionally required to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and lift intermittently. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc.
  • Must be alert to equipment when in the field
