Overview

The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Philadelphia Engineering Office. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Our office is located at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which is a dynamic urban development, offering the Philadelphia region a unique and centrally-located waterfront business campus committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability. The Navy Yard has over 20 acres of parks, one mile of waterfront trail and is located less than one-half mile from the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, as well as the retail/entertainment center Xfinity Live!.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Support the development, testing, maintenance, and delivery of Aegis shorebased control systems.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the system development including but not limited to, requirements definition, software development, documentation, testing, deployment, support and maintenance.
  • Design, develop, test, install, and maintain Aegis software and supporting software products.
  • Identify and resolve software issues through debugging, research and investigation.
  • Provide remote and onsite support of Aegis problems.
  • Write, review and maintain technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications and training materials.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:

 

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 2 or more years’ experience with PLC testing.
  • Experience with MCS hardware interfaces.
  • Experience in reviewing schematics to isolate shipboard issues and redlining drawings if discrepancy were found.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience installing, operating, and maintaining software-based U.S. Navy shipboard machinery control systems.
  • Experience with Dod RMF processes and cybersecurity related experience
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and installing software and supporting software products.
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation such as but not limited to new or existing software requirements, user manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
  • Experience with databases (MS Access, SQL)
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Security + or other related IATII certification
  • Ability to go up and down shipboard stairways (ladders)
  • Handle light materials, boxes, or equipment.
