The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Senior ETL Developer (Temporary) to support our growing technology business in Virginia Beach, VA. The GBS Group is a commercial and government engineering services contractor with a variety of contract types, but this position will focus on our commercial business. Our Headquarters is located within 12 miles of the Virginia Beach resort area and downtown Norfolk’s Waterside District and includes a 24x7 Operational Support Center monitoring all client installations in North America as well as a world class lab with configurations of all client hardware and software systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Design, develop, test, document, and optimize data integration and data quality processes for the data warehouse, operational data stores, and other systems
  • Establish development standards and best practices for data integration solutions and lead code review sessions to ensure standards are being implemented
  • Provide technical mentoring/coaching for team members


Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 5+ years of ETL design and development experience including in-depth knowledge and experience as a data integration architect, developer, or administrator of a data integration tool. To include: 
    • Experience developing data warehouse and analytics solutions using AWS services including Amazon Redshift, and/or Amazon Aurora, Amazon EMR and Amazon Kinesis
    • Experience developing data integration solutions using synchronous and asynchronous messaging, publish/subscribe models, microservices, and ETL/ELT patterns
    • Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Must be authorized to work in US - no sponsorship available for this position
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration, data management processes and an ability to mentor/coach team members with varying levels of experience
