  • Overview

    The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a ICAS System Administrator to support our Norfolk, VA waterfront team. The GBS Group supports HM&E systems for the US Navy’s waterfront maintenance and inspection teams and designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to the most advanced naval and maritime ships. Please note, this position is contingent upon customer approval of resume.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to

    • Support US Navy vessels with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and training of the Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS).
    • Troubleshoot networking interface and communications issues, address software applications failures, and fix hardware computer/network issues, and handheld personal devices.
    • Conduct ICAS disaster recovery processes to include data backups, application maintenance, security updates, and hard drive imaging.
    • Troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary hardware, such as transducers, Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTE), Thermocouples, Signal Conditioners, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and PC-based control and monitoring systems.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings in support of troubleshooting, wiring and testing.
    • Design and setup shore based labs (Software systems lab, training classroom) to support training and test requirements.
    • Prepare technical documentation such as reports, procedures and test plans.

    Qualifications

    Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:

    • Must have 6 years of experience with Navy equipment and/or machinery on ships and 4 years of experience conducting and witnessing shipboard or land based installation and operational testing of U.S. Navy based systems and equipment.
    • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience troubleshooting PCbased computer hardware, such as hard disk drives, CD ROM drives, network cards, video cards, CPU power supplies, motherboards, and disk controllers.
    • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience troubleshooting PC interfaces with networks, internet browsers, firewalls, external components, such as printers and PDAs.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Experience with Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS) system for over three years while serving as the ICAS System Administrator.
    • Experience troubleshooting propulsion and auxiliary hardware, such as transducers, Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTE), Thermocouples, Signal Conditioners, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
    • Experience with Networking, switching and routing.
