Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Provide support for all aspects of Commonality, including support for the implementation, integration and automation of Commonality program elements including but not limited to: Virtual Shelf, Standard Parts Catalog(s), Common Parts Catalog, Deep Dive Studies, Cost Based Analysis, Business Case Analysis, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages, Obsolescence, Variation Reduction, Total Ownership Cost Analysis, NAVSEA Specification Management & Maintenance, NAVSEA Standards Management & Maintenance, Training, Standardization, Configuration Management, and Program & Financial Planning, Execution & Management.


Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.   Must hold CSSLP, ECSP or equivalent certification.
  • Ten (10) years of experience designing, programming, implementing, integrating and supporting Navy Automated knowledge management/information systems and applications.
  • Ten (10) years of experience with Windows or Linux based computer systems. 
  • Five (5) years of experience in the design, development, implementation, integration, deployment, maintenance and support of Navy knowledge management systems in ship and/or shore-based environments.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the integration and certification of knowledge management systems with multiple and/or varying architectures, development support and lifecycle support of software systems.
  • Three (3) years of supporting a knowledge management Configuration Control Board (CCB).
  • Must have an active Department of Defense (DOD) Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience developing and / or modifying source code in C/C++ / C#, Visual Basic, .NET, Java, as well as experience with Web services and business process automation applications.
  • Experience with creation and modification of Virtual Shelf data structures, Virtual Shelf metric reporting, GUI design and development and web services, as well as public shipyard Standard Parts Catalog (SPC). 
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of authentication and authorization principles including PKI implementations in IIS or JBOSS Application Servers.
